Abertay University wish to employ a person with a Food Chemistry or Engineering or similar related degree or post-graduate degree to work on a project sponsored by the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme in collaboration with Ivan Wood and Sons Ltd, an innovative fresh fruit and vegetable family business which supplies Scottish foodservice businesses. The company wishes to enhance its scientific rigor in the design and validation of a potential new product for treating the waste generated by fresh vegetable preparation and also investigate the potential to utilize the recovered waste products.
A knowledge of wastewater treatment and/or process engineering and chemistry would be advantageous, but more importantly applicants should be effective communicators, with the ability to learn quickly and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within the environment of a fast moving small company.
This post will be based at Ivan Wood and Son’s Ltd premises in Ballingry, Fife, but will require regular travel to Abertay University in Dundee and to other areas of Scotland.
As a KTP associate the successful applicant will be working under the direction of a line manager at the company as well as being directly supported by Dr J. Wilkin of Abertay University.
The KTP scheme provides the successful applicant the opportunity to spend around 10% of their time in training and personal development whilst being given a training budget to manage. Training modules include:
• Personal development
• Project management
• Effective communication
• Finance and leadership development
• Job-related specific training.
There may be an opportunity to register for a higher degree (MPhil/Ph.D. at Abertay University).
