Date: 30th August 2012 Time: 13:00 - 15:30
Where: Hannah Maclure Centre (Top Floor, University of Abertay Student Union Building, Bell Street, Dundee, DD1 1HG)
Aim and Format: Informative event to explore what the upcoming Green Deal could mean for Construction Sector small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
In the transition to a Low Carbon Economy, keeping up to date with changes in the market, incentives and funding schemes is becoming increasingly important to SMEs. Understanding how market demand may respond to these changes can determine how businesses adapt and survive in a challenging economic climate.
In Autumn 2012, a new mechanism for funding energy efficiency improvements to buildings will come into effect. The Green Deal is intended to increase the uptake of energy efficiency measures by allowing financing of projects at no up-front cost to building owners, and paid off through savings on energy bills. However there is some uncertainty as to what this all means for Construction Sector SMEs. Are there ample opportunities for SMEs to take advantage of? How can businesses prepare?
This informative event is intended to provide some clarity for SMEs on the Green Deal and to explore the potential opportunities that may exist.
Attendees: This event is open to all Scottish SMEs within the Construction Sector, including renewables, energy efficiency or low carbon solution providers, as well as academics, researchers or local authorities with an interest in collaboration on low carbon projects.
