Abertay are recruiting a Lecturer in Chemistry or Forensic Science
Reporting to the Head of Division of Science, you will provide high quality teaching and research in a field of chemistry or forensic science..

Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. Last year we marked the 125th anniversary of our foundation as an institution dedicated to supporting science, industry and the professions with a distinctive interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach to teaching, research and knowledge exchange.

The University now seeks to appoint academic staff within the School of Science, Engineering and Technology.

The School of Science, Engineering and Technology has a diverse and established range of teaching including computer security, human-computer interaction, user-centred design, theoretical computing, mathematical modelling and intelligent systems. The School houses Abertay’s internationally renowned environmental, forensic and biomedical science research, and delivers high quality teaching in biotechnology, civil engineering, environmental science, food and health science and forensic science.

Reporting to the Head of Division of Science, you will provide high quality teaching and research in a field of chemistry or forensic science, complementary to the expertise of current staff, providing teaching in forensic science at all levels and chemistry components to undergraduate students across natural and applied sciences. We are particularly interested in fields of inorganic, analytical or physical chemistry, toxicology, combustion, ballistics, and materials and seek to appoint two candidates across complementary areas.

The roles require engaging educators who can deliver innovative teaching, and aid development of curricula in response to changing demand. Research is an important component of the position and appointees should enhance our research profile, develop independent research, supervise students and collaborate across the Division and wider community (for example in Biomedical, Environmental or Food science). We envisage that experience for these roles may have been gained in policing, government, industry or academia, or a combination of these areas.

A full candidate brief can be found below which details the job description, person specification and application details
